Toolboxes under the bed leave more clear space on top. Also replaced my 15 year old diesel transfer tank with an RDS aluminum tank that still left enough room on the flat bed for the gooseneck hitch, a large bale of hay etc. I recently replaced the 8 ft std bed on my 2010 Dodge dually with a CM aluminum flatbed with 4 toolboxes under the bed and optional removable short sides.
